About Us
Coalitions
Homes for Working Families will work with local coalitions in large metropolitan areas around the country to develop and implement innovative, market-based solutions to the shortage of affordable homes for working families. Each coalition will include employers, civic and community leaders, builders, developers, housing advocates, public officials and other influential opinion leaders. We will arm the coalitions with promising policies, compelling data and research-based tactics, tools and messages to advance solutions that make more homes affordable for working families.
Specifically, each coalition will be tasked with:
- Establishing an action plan detailing the course to be followed in achieving implementation of the agreed upon public policy and business solutions.
- Identifying milestones that demonstrate progress and maintain forward motion.
- Educating policy-makers and employers about the challenges confronting working families trying to find affordable homes and the value of the solutions agreed upon by the coalition.
Currently, Homes for Working Families is working to establish initial coalitions. Please check back periodically for more details.
Homes for Working Families also is developing national partnerships with key allies to broaden the base of those who champion solutions to the shortage of quality, affordable homes for working families. Building on the leadership and reach of our board of directors, we bring new players to the table — including large employers, national interest groups and others with a stake in the availability of affordable homes — to reinforce and expand on the work of our coalitions. We help these new national allies add their voices to the call for policies that alleviate the growing home-affordability problem. We suggest internal policies they can adopt to help their employees and constituents access quality, affordable homes.
